The Queensland V8 JetBoat club

What is Jetsprint Racing

Jetsprint racing is the equivalent of rally on water.

It began in New Zealand back in the 1980's and has now evolved into the sport, as we know it today.
You take two people; strap them into specifically designed 13ft aluminium tinny with a 600bhp small block chev V8 engine bolted behind them which is attached to a two or three stage jet propulsion unit. They then have to navigate a circuit composed of a series of channels no more than 4 meters wide and 80cm deep at speeds of up to 130km/h with absolutely no margin for error.
Sounds like a hell of a lot of fun to me!

The Queensland V8 JetBoat club Inc. was formed in September 2003, with the intent of reopening the Susan River Jetsprint track in Maryborough QLD and holding race meetings (including rounds of the Australian championships) on the purpose built racecourse.
The track had not been raced on for 2 years and was in need of a lot of tender loving care, but with the majority of jetsprint tracks being interstate, it was imperative for the Susan River track to be online to cater for the ever-growing number of race boats in Queensland.
Our first race meet was held on the 15th & 16th November 2003 and was a resounding success.
The Track is back even better than ever and for spectators and race crews alike, the thrill of JetSprint racing has returned to S.E. Queensland.

Our Timing Board was designed and constructed by Darryl Squires, the Timing Unit is a Allen Bradley 1500 PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) using Photo Electric Cells at the start and finishing lines, all equipment was supplied and programmed by Central Qld Hi Tech Pty Ltd. The timing unit is accurate up to 1/100th’s of a second.
